Day 8 – Plenty of wind
July 11, 2012
We spent yesterday evening running in strong conditions – steady low to mid-thirties. Today dawned with more of the same, although the sun has finally come out to make things a bit cheerier. We’re currently reaching in 25 knots through some large waves that were generated by the system we encountered yesterday evening. It’s exhilarating to say the least, but I think we’d be happier with a bit less wind.
We’ve named the NKE autopilot, Nicky, and we’ve been knocking wood left and right that it is working so well.
Today marks the official half-way point for us, and we will celebrate by opening another care package item.
Our position is 39 deg 7.77’N and 54 deg 33.63’W
